Eight ideas to keep the momentum going post-event
The natural inclination after a busy few days on site is to take a breath, a rye little smile of satisfaction, stretch back, put your feet up and read all the great posts on social media. And why not it has been relentless in the build-up.
But with some planning and foresight here are a few tactical and strategic practices that will keep the momentum going forward following your event. What would you add?
- External feedback: While fresh in attendees, exhibitors/sponsors and speakers’ minds gather feedback on their experience, things to improve, finesse and celebrate.
- Internal feedback: Have each department record successes, improvements and changes within two weeks of the event.
- Share and celebrate: Gather photos, video content and testimonials to share across staff, event and company social media channels.
- Advisory board: Set a date for your advisory board meeting 4-6 weeks post-event. This provides enough time for post-show analysis, while it is still fresh in their minds. If you don’t have one, recruit one by asking visitors to volunteer in your post-event surveys and then interview.
- Exhibitor review meetings: Set review meetings with all exhibitors to support their post-show follow-up. Its as easy for them to be consumed in their day-to-day as it is for you to sit back and relax.
- Sales literature: Create a deck of exhibitor & visitor quotes, relevant statistics, and photos to send to your exhibitors. Even better create two, one for those rebooked and those that haven’t.
- SELL, SELL SELL. Create a variation to communicate to all supplier attendees who attended the event or decided not to participate.
- Strategy day: Set aside at least a day no more than 6 weeks post-event to review your current strategy and plans. These are not incremental changes or operational improvements but a deep dive into your three-year event plan that guides your growth.
